The 1998 Sarno (italy) Landslide from Sar Interferometry

چکیده
The SAR Interferometry is a tecnique for measuring the topography of surface and its change through the phase component of a coherent radar signal [1]. This paper reports on the results of the SAR Interferometry application to the study to the Sarno landslide. Two ERS-1/2 tandem pairs acquired over the Sarno area after the 1998 landslide have been processed to generate a SAR DEM. Due to the strong topographic relief of the study area, to avoid or limit layover and shadowing, we used either an ascending or a descending tandem pair. A DEM generated by means of two ERS1/2 tandem pairs has been compared with a topographic map derived DEM dated 1997 allowing the identification of the areas mostly affected by the landslide. The external DEM has been used because no ERS tandem pairs acquired before the disaster were available to produce a synthetic one.

One of the most common natural phenomena occurring in mountainous regions of the world is landslide which causes critical damages and is considered as a natural disaster. Iran is a country which annually suffers from this disaster and its consequent damage of about 500 billion Rial. Over the last 15 years, an increasing number of researches have aimed to demonstrate the applicability of the im...
متن کاملExploitation of Amplitude and Phase of Satellite SAR Images for Landslide Mapping: The Case of Montescaglioso (South Italy)
Preevent and event landslide deformations have been detected and measured for the landslide that occurred on 3 December 2013 on the south-western slope of the Montescaglioso village (Basilicata Region, southern Italy). In this paper, ground displacements have been mapped through an integrated analysis based on a series of high resolution SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images acquired by the Ita...
متن کاملDetecting Landslide Activity by Sar Interferometry
Operational monitoring of slope instabilities by SAR Interferometry poses a number of challenges due to the limited spatial extent of the landslide areas and rainy conditions usually associated with mass movement events. In this work we present the results of the application of both conventional DInSAR techniques, and a point-by-point, multitemporal study of the long-term stability of selected ...
متن کاملPersistent Scatterer Sar Interferometry Applications on Landslides in Carpathians (southern Poland)
This paper presents preliminary results of the application of Persistent Scatterer SAR Interferometry for landslide mapping support. The PSI data were obtained basing on ERS-1/2 SAR data for the part of Carpathian Mountains in southern Poland. Careful PSI data processing allowed achieving very reliable results that were verified during the detailed field mapping. PSI data present their high app...

RESUME This work concerns the application of SAR interferometry for the assessment of the long-term analysis of the state of activity of deep seated mass movements affecting some urban areas in the northern Appennines of Emilia Romagna region (from 1994-2001 space-borne ERS data) and for the real-time monitoring of active flow-like landslides in year 2002 (from ground-based system). These activ...
